I'm not really sure how we want to begin. We need mechanics for character creation, and a basic combat mechanic.
For combat we can probably stick with a pretty simple d20 system.(eg, d20 + modifier to try to hit or beat a target score)
Is there a better way to simulate zombie combat? In classic zombie-style stuff it's not super hard to hit a zombie, it's hitting it anywhere useful that's tricky.

I think we should keep the character creation VERY simple. All the players will be normal humans, so I think stats should be limited to strength and speed/agility. No complicated stat and fighting system just raw power, speedy get aways, and technological superiority.

No intelligence based stats because you have your brain so use it!(until the zombies get it anyway)
We should work on a way to randomly create an ever expanding zombie horde and how to move them around.
Once that is done we should work on weaponry and how movement around the map works. I think it will all fall into place after that.

I'm wondering if a dice pool system would be a better simulation for a game like this. It makes a lot more sense that you just either kill a zombie or don't with a shotgun than trying to hit an AC of some sort.

Maybe have distance increments and a die roll to see if it is killed or just has a limb blown off.
Dice to see if more zombies are attracted to the noise you are making.

Hey,
I'm noticing that this has the potential to get incredibly complex, as in, "hey, your shotgun makes a loud noise so 1d20 zombies hear you, or hey, you've been bleeding, therefore zombies start picking up on your blood trail, etc.... The simpler the better. You could always add a little booklet that contains extra rules for those hardcore zombie killers.
